Why Do Our Worst Deeds Define Us ?
In this Ted Talks, he starts off by talking about his life. Throughout school, he was "an honor roll student, a scholarship student, with dreams of becoming a doctor". When his parents divorced, everything began to go dramatically wrong. At the age of 17, he got shot 3 times. He had to deal with this situation on his own. A little over a year later, he went to prison for murdering a man. And as he continues, he talks about why men and women should not be held hostage of their pasts and why they should be able to move on and have a fresh start. This relates to 12 Angry Men because, a boy at the age of 19, was the prime suspect in his father's murder. Automatically, the jurors believe that he is the one who killed his father because for one, he was from the slums, and second, because his dad would beat on him when he was younger. Throughout the time trying to figure out whether he did it or not. Juror number 8 gives all of the possibilities as to why it may have not been him. And just because of where he was from and his situation with his father, majority of the other jurors believe it was the 19 year old that killed his father. There was a slight possibility that it was him but juror number 8 doesn't give up. Juror number 3 is one of the jurors that wants him to be guilty because he is in the group that would execute the 19 year old if he was founded guilty. With all the evidence juror number 8 is giving as to why the boy isn't the criminal, the rest of the jurors give in and find the 19 year old innocent. |
